STEP_01
Read modrinth.index.json
The tool validates the MRPACK archive and extracts the manifest that lists Minecraft, loader, files, hashes, and download URLs.
BROWSER_SIDE_MODPACK_CONVERTER
Convert Modrinth .mrpack files into a standard ZIP package. The tool reads modrinth.index.json, copies overrides, downloads referenced files, and builds the ZIP in your browser.
If you searched for mr pack to zip, this is the same file format most launchers write as MRPACK or .mrpack.
Upload a .mrpack file to start.
CONVERSION_PIPELINE
An MRPACK file is already a ZIP archive, but it usually does not contain every mod JAR. It contains a manifest that tells launchers which files to download. This converter reads that manifest, copies config overrides, downloads the referenced files, and rebuilds a regular ZIP.
STEP_01
The tool validates the MRPACK archive and extracts the manifest that lists Minecraft, loader, files, hashes, and download URLs.
STEP_02
Files from overrides and client-overrides are copied into the output ZIP so configs, resource packs, and extra files stay with the pack.
STEP_03
Your browser downloads each file referenced by the manifest and places it at the path expected by a regular ZIP modpack.
STEP_04
The final ZIP is generated locally and downloaded as a browser blob. If a file fails, a FAILED_DOWNLOADS.txt report is included.
FORMAT_CHECK
Renaming the file lets you inspect the archive, but it does not download the actual mod files referenced by the manifest. If your launcher needs a full ZIP with a mods/ folder, you need a real conversion step.
BAD_PATH
Useful for inspecting the archive, but it usually leaves you with metadata and overrides rather than a complete playable pack.
BEST_IF_SUPPORTED
Best when your launcher supports MRPACK directly, such as Prism Launcher, ATLauncher, or compatible Modrinth workflows.
THIS_TOOL
Best when you need a regular ZIP structure for manual installs, server prep, or launchers that do not understand MRPACK.
SCOPE_DECLARATION
MRPACK conversion depends on the files and download URLs inside the Modrinth manifest. This page is intentionally explicit about the limits so you know when to use the tool and when a launcher import is a better choice.
CONVERSION_ERRORS
Most MRPACK to ZIP problems come from the archive structure or the download URLs inside modrinth.index.json. These are the cases to check before assuming the modpack itself is broken.
INVALID_ARCHIVE
A .mrpack file should be a ZIP archive. If the browser cannot open it, download the pack again and make sure the file extension is still .mrpack.
MISSING_INDEX
The converter needs modrinth.index.json at the root of the archive. Without it, there is no manifest telling the tool which files to copy or download.
FAILED_DOWNLOADS
Old URLs, removed files, blocked hosts, or temporary network issues can stop a referenced JAR from downloading. Check FAILED_DOWNLOADS.txt inside the output ZIP.
CORS_BLOCKED
Some third-party hosts do not allow browser-based downloads from other sites. The converter cannot bypass CORS; manually download those files if needed.
NO_MODS_FOLDER
Some MRPACK files only contain overrides, or every referenced file failed to download. A native MRPACK import may work better when the host blocks browser downloads.
LARGE_PACK
The conversion runs in your browser memory. Very large packs may take longer, especially when many files must be downloaded and zipped at once.
FAQ_NODES
Yes. The converter runs in your browser and does not require signup, payment, or server-side upload.
No. The MRPACK archive is read locally in your browser. The browser may still request mod files from the URLs listed inside modrinth.index.json.
Some download hosts block browser requests with CORS, remove old files, or require network access your browser cannot provide. Failed files are listed in FAILED_DOWNLOADS.txt.
No. This first version focuses only on converting Modrinth .mrpack files to ZIP. CurseForge packs use a different manifest format.
Some manual setups, server workflows, and launchers without native MRPACK support may need a regular ZIP. If your launcher supports MRPACK directly, native import is usually simpler.
Usually yes. The Modrinth modpack file format is written as MRPACK or .mrpack, but some people search for it as "mr pack". This tool is for converting .mrpack files to ZIP.
